The Queenstown Commissioners held a special meeting on March 18, 2026 to review draft documents for possible Zoning Ordinance and Town Code amendments and new/updated policy. Commissioners Al Hardee, Bryon Callahan and Jim Watzin, Town Manager Amy Moore, Town Clerk Aaron Horney and Assistant Attorney Jen Dindinger reviewed drafts on Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs), long-term rental licensing, a draft Investment Policy, revisions to §95 (Table of Height, Area, and Bulk Requirements), and state law implementing the Brighter Tomorrow Act (automated solar permitting). Staff will research specific legal questions raised: whether ADU setback of 4 ft is required, whether private covenants or Critical Area rules conflict with the ADU language, whether rental license fees can be charged on ownership transfer and whether inspection or occupant-count requirements are allowed, and will finalize and circulate ordinance/policy drafts; the Town Manager will ask other towns about Brighter Tomorrow implementation. The meeting adjourned at 2:03 p.m. by unanimous vote.
