Town Commissioners — 2024-11-20

The November 20, 2024 Queenstown Commissioners meeting certified the uncontested Nov. 4 election and swore in Commissioner Thomas B. Willis, Jr.; the board held a 3-0 vote to appoint a president. Public Works noted a $1,500 quote from Rauch to investigate brown water complaints (hydrant pressure testing and main-line sampling) and reported that 10 lead/copper homeowner samples taken in September met testing requirements. Commissioners approved buying two solar speed signs (estimated $8,107.98) and agreed to install a rubber speed bump on Comegys Lane; a bucket truck under consideration was reported leaking and commissioners will inspect before purchase. Infrastructure updates included I&I project pre-construction planning for spring 2025 and near-complete USDA documentation for the new water tower; Wall Street tower maintenance history was discussed and MDE recommends washouts at least every five years. The board introduced Ordinance 24-05 to prohibit odor nuisances (vote 3-0) and scheduled a public hearing for January 22, 2025; other items noted were audit extension to 12/31/24, tree lighting on 12/13, and ongoing review of a possible land purchase at 6915 Main Street.
