The Queenstown Commissioners met on September 25, 2024. Staff and contractors reported on public works tasks (retrieving an EQ pump from a 40-ft pit, a hydrant flow test at the golf course, and ditch clearing on Maryland Ave/Old Wharf Lane), and the membrane valve automation work has resumed. Finance updates included fund balances (General $527,136.82; W/S $70,634.13; ARPA $611,550.71), work on a USDA WWTP loan balance sheet, and a recommendation to revisit the 2013 Water & Sewer Rate Study; minutes from four prior meetings were approved with one abstention on each where applicable. Commissioners agreed to contact bidders and try to obligate ARPA funds for the I&I project before the 12/31/24 deadline, are obtaining interim financing quotes for the new water tower project, and applied for $1.5 million in FY’26 DNR grant funding for Federal Channel dredging. The town attorney reviewed draft zoning ordinances and zoning history for the Dudley/Salthouse properties; other actions: approved purchase of a microphone/speaker system ($524.49), announced Trick-or-Treat on Oct 31 (6–8 p.m.), noted an island yard sale donation to the fire department, and the manager requested a closed session for a personnel matter.
