Town Commissioners — 2024-05-22

The Queenstown Commissioners met May 22, 2024 and held a public hearing on Ordinance 24-03 to prohibit parking of commercial trucks and trailers for more than two hours on town streets; two residents spoke about contractor access and parked equipment blocking a school bus, the town attorney said legitimate deliveries that do not impede traffic are allowed, and the public hearing was closed by a 3-0 vote. Public works will remove a Leyland cypress at Comegys open space and trim a nearby cherry tree; Mister Rooter reran and will provide video of sewer line camera work at no charge. The finance report showed General Fund $58,347.83, WS Fund $20,014.26, and ARPA Fund $642,436.22; minutes from May 8 and May 20 were approved unanimously. Manager updates: three park grant applications were denied and will be refiled in August, a letter was sent to a Steamboat Avenue property owner about tenants pouring grease into the sewer, a water line easement from the Friels needs follow-up due to a deceased owner, staff will attend benefits training June 5, and a resident petition about allowing chickens was not allowed to be posted in the Town Office. Infrastructure items remain active (I&I bids closed awaiting recommendation, new water tower and membrane/valve work ongoing) and the Lead Service Line Inventory agreement was approved and executed by the president; federal channel dredging and several committee reports had no updates.
