Town Commissioners — 2024-05-20

The Queenstown Commissioners held a special budget work session on May 20, 2024 to review draft FY2025 General Fund and Water & Sewer Fund budgets. Commissioners and staff discussed reallocations of certain expenditures and revenues between the two funds, approved employee salary increases based on the Maryland Standard Salary Schedule, and established tax rates (Public Utility Property Tax Rate $2.00 per $100, Real Property Tax Rate $ .23 12 per $100, Personal Property Tax Rate $ .58 per $100), all with no increases. Anticipated capital projects include purchase of a used bucket truck, street paving, and other infrastructure projects; the Water/Sewer review noted ENR/BNR grant requirements were met and included in revenues, an 8% water/sewer consumption rate increase adopted June 22, 2022 remains in effect, and Sprint revenues will cease in September 2024. Town staff will make changes to the proposed budgets, an ordinance will be eligible for introduction at the May 22, 2024 meeting, and a public hearing on the ordinance is scheduled for June 12, 2024 at 6:00 p.m.; the work session adjourned at 11:44 a.m.
