The Queenstown Commissioners met October 10, 2023 (called to order at 4:03 p.m.) to hear engineers on a membrane clean valve automation project, review town projects, and act on routine items. Engineers reported recent contractor bids for the valve automation far exceed earlier estimates (recent bids $87,851–$99,697 vs. prior estimate $35,930); the town has already purchased valve electrical actuators and stem extensions for $8,905.50, and engineers will review bid line items and hold a bid review with contractors. The Commissioners approved Integrity Tree Service for removal of five trees ($3,250); the Planning Commission granted final approval of the Wheatland’s major subdivision subject to addressing planner/engineer comments, executing a PWA and DRRA, and posting required security; and town staff reported fund balances (General $354,013.25; Water-Sewer $84,707.36; ARPA $660,350.07). Other updates included Wall Street water line paving scheduled late October/early November, boat ramp permitting underway with walkway work planned for spring 2024, ongoing town dock plumbing/hydrant work, a Bayland study on federal channel dredging, a pedestrian/bicycle master plan open house on Oct. 26, and an events note that the Fall/Halloween parade is scheduled Oct. 28 (rain date Oct. 29).
