This is the Queenstown Commissioners regular meeting of September 12, 2023, called to order at 4:00 p.m. Guests included Heather Tinelli and Rebecca Clark from Queen Anne’s County Economic Tourism & Development who discussed the County’s Town Assistance Program, and Town Engineer Bob Rauch who updated commissioners on water/sewer projects and recommended delaying Old Wharf Lane bids until spring for better paving results (commissioners agreed). Committee updates noted a new Public Works hire (George Glew), Planning Commission work to assign zoning for the Dudley property and draft recreational cannabis rules, and Safety & Speeding Task Force actions including delivery of speed feedback signs, ordering a traffic mirror and benches, and exploring a solar panel for the portable sign. Clerk/finance items reported fund balances (General $261,271.61; Water-Sewer $93,514.16; ARPA $685,946.82), auditors working on the FY2023 audit, approval of several minutes, and a motion to buy a new office desktop for $1,748.95 (approved). Old business: I&I and water tower reports provided to USDA pending their review, Wall Street water line work complete with paving pre-bid scheduled, boat ramp small-pier contract awarded to H&H Marine contingent on them obtaining permits for an added $1,000 fee, town dock RFP deadline extended to September 19, and Bayland is working on the federal channel dredging study with a DNR grant deadline in progress.
