Town Commissioners — 2023-08-08

The Queenstown Town Commissioners met August 8, 2023 (special closed session at 3:00 p.m.; regular meeting called at 4:08 p.m.) with President Al Hardee, Commissioners Tom Willis and Bryon Callahan, Town Manager Amy Moore, Town Clerk Aaron Horney, and Town Attorney Lyndsey Ryan present. A closed session was held to obtain legal advice. Public works items included a $54,228 quote to replace corroded copper feeds to the drum screen with stainless steel (commissioners asked staff to verify line length and material cost), bid documents for automating membrane-cleaning valves (staff to verify that labor is included), and completion of cleaning a stormwater pond at Queenstown Village. The Planning Commission approved an amendment to the golf course master plan for a multi-hole par-3 course pending finalized plans and habitat protections; the Safety & Speeding Task Force reported SHA approval for two speed-feedback signs and pavement lettering, agreed to purchase three plastic benches at about $1,200 each, and noted a 4-way stop study will be delayed until funds are available in early 2024. Other updates: finances reported (General Fund $286,869.27; Water-Sewer $119,696.38; ARPA $685,888.57); I&I project going out to bid and construction management decision is needed; new water tower information submitted to USDA; Wall Street water line replacement complete with milling/paving to be bid; boat ramp pier estimate of $12,000–$15,000 to be quoted; town dock plumbing to be redone with at least two price estimates; federal channel dredging engineering has begun and the town will reapply for FY25 funding and for the DNR Waterway Improvement Fund by 9/18; and franchise agreement responses from Breezeline and Comcast are under review.
