Town Commissioners — 2023-07-26

The July 26, 2023 Queenstown Commissioners meeting covered public works, utilities, marine projects, policy and development updates. Public Works completed rip-rap work at the R&D ditch (with a $2,500 quote pending for the other side), scheduled work at the Queenstown Village stormwater pond, and will get tree-trimming quotes for concern at Jerry Young’s driveway. Infrastructure items: the I&I project was put out to bid with a suggested 60-day inspector at $600/day to discuss, the new water tower is awaiting USDA review of the revised ER and PER, and the Wall Street water line has been installed with backfill remaining. Marine projects: Rauch provided a $30,000 pier scope (commissioners questioned the cost) and town dock paving bids came in at $99,949.10 (R.L. Ewing, recommended) and $101,008.00 (Pavemaster) with about $130,000 in grant funds remaining; Bayland will send a survey crew for federal channel dredging. Policy and other items: franchise agreements with Breezeline and Comcast were revised (Comcast asked to begin work early but commissioners insisted an agreement be in place first), road/sidewalk standards and water/sewer connection code work continue, a draft development agreement for Wheatlands was circulated, planning will begin zoning updates for recreational cannabis, and a resident urged consideration of potential cannabis tax revenue. Financials reported: General $303,640.55, W-S $99,790.95, ARPA $695,999.57; events committee noted low recent concert attendance and approved pursuing a clothing swap event for August; public works job posting and a signed fireworks contract for the fair (9/8, rain date 9/9) were also reported.
