This record is a May 30, 2023 special budget work session of the Queenstown Commissioners to review draft FY2024 General Fund and Water & Sewer Fund budgets. Commissioners approved employee salary increases tied to the State of Maryland Standard Salary Schedule, allocated $5,000 for policing, decided not to raise boat slip rents now (to reevaluate at lease renewal), and set tax rates including a Public Utility Property Tax Rate of $2.00 per $100 of assessment, a Constant Yield Real Property Tax Rate of $ .23 12 per $ 100 of assessment, and a Personal Property Tax Rate of $ .58 per $100 of assessment. Anticipated capital purchases include a used bucket truck and/or dump truck; for the Water/Sewer Fund they noted reallocated expenses between funds, no ENR/BNR grant from MDE due to one month of high nutrient levels, an 8% increase in consumption rates adopted in June 2022, and that Sprint revenues will cease in September 2024 with plans to consult a vendor-replacement strategy. Staff will update the proposed budgets for introduction at the June 6, 2023 meeting; the session was called to order at 5:33 p.m. and adjourned at 6:38 p.m. by a 3-0 vote.
