The Town Commissioners met March 7, 2023. A resident, Christina Palmer (104 Charity Lane), raised speeding concerns and suggested speed shelves; commissioners said they cannot place speed bumps on state highways and will plan a meeting with SIIA and the QAC Sheriff’s Office to discuss solutions. Public Works reported compactor work starting March 14, an MD Rural Water energy audit scheduled for April, and an adjuster has inspected Town Office damage so estimates and cleanup can proceed; commissioners will inspect the porch area to decide repair scope. Financial balances were reported (General Fund $292,707.42; Water-Sewer $105,762.89; ARPA $685,659.37) and February 22 minutes were listed. Under old business commissioners discussed prioritizing ARPA-funded infrastructure projects (I&I and Wall St. water line replacement; Wall St. bids due March 10) and making the new water tower a priority; marine items included boat ramp dock work estimated at ~$45,000, floating dock prices ($6,180 for 6x30 ft; $4,960 for 4x30 ft) and piling costs, and approval of a $3,090 change order for town dock finger pier headers (vote 3-0); a contractor requested payment of $8,730.50 with a remaining retainer of $2,779.45. Manager updates noted the mosquito control fee rising from $3,150 to $4,725 and the commissioners approved continuing the service and a $50 donation to the QAC Mental Health Committee in memory of Kit Foster. A draft procurement ordinance was reviewed and will be revised by the town attorney; Wheatland’s PWA draft will also be revised; there were no public comments.
