Town Commissioners — 2023-01-10

The Queenstown Commissioners met Jan. 10, 2023 (regular meeting called to order at 4:02 PM). Commissioners reviewed public works items including a leak on Old Wharf (Steve Roberson proposed abandoning/replacing the church service line with an estimated cost of $12,000; commissioners requested site review and additional contractor quotes) and agreed to maintain and survey the ditch at Jerry Young’s Olde Point property to determine excavation needs. The Planning Commission recommended pursuing funding/sidewalk connection to the golf course and gave conditional final approval to Wheatland’s Phase I subdivision. Finance noted HUR funds must be committed or escrowed by June 2023 (possible use for Wall St. project) and discussed Breezeline/Atlantic Broadband renewal and the town fee (currently 3%); no final decision yet. Code enforcement served a citation to 128 Aker for an untagged vehicle and Ms. Ryan will advise next steps; harbormaster issues include a submerged small boat to be removed; the town approved purchasing a gas detection meter from Instrumart for $830.79. Manager updates: town to revisit a Towerpoint cell-lease offer, QVFD officer installation Jan. 14, COG meeting Jan. 11, Feb./Mar. meetings moved to the 7th, and the Board of Appeals approved a special exception for a Type II home-occupation barber on Old Wharf Lane. Dock work continues (waiting on piling caps, securing electrical conduit) and commissioners asked the contractor to address protruding bolts; many listed infrastructure projects had no new updates, and recently codified ordinances were uploaded to the town website.
