Town Commissioners — 2022-12-14

This is the December 14, 2022 Queenstown Commissioners meeting record. Commissioners appointed Al Hardee as President (motion passed 3-0). Public Works reported sand removed from the wet well, completion of an HVAC controls upgrade, a water leak to be repaired at 119 Old Wharf, a $2,400 concrete estimate for an Olde Point Lane storm drain (town to seek a second estimate), and discussion of pressure-washing the water tower (not recommended; estimated cost $9,000–$10,000; next coating scheduled for 2029). The MDE survey requires the town to either begin monthly use of the Aquia well or abandon it; blending the Aquia with the Matawan well to meet rules was estimated at about $15,000 and the town engineer advised against abandoning the Aquia well. A gas meter for confined spaces was found damaged with a replacement quote of $841.75 (alternative kit quote previously $1,420). The Planning Commission requested permission to research a Corridor Management Plan for US 50/301 approaches. Treasurer/finance balances were reported (General Fund: 5279,431.82; Water-Sewer Fund: $133,105.32; ARPA Fund: $685,490.34). Other items: playground equipment delivery expected around Dec. 22, a Board of Appeals hearing set for Jan. 9 for a barbershop home-occupation request, increased sheriff patrols for Main Street speeding, denial of a temporary hunting permit request for the Wheatlands property (motion passed 3-0), a successful Town Tree Lighting event, and authorization to submit an interim amendment to the County Comprehensive Water/Sewer Plan to pursue USDA funding for the new water tower/underground storage tank project (motion passed 3-0); bid/contract documents were submitted by Engineer Rauch.
