Town Engineer Robert Rauch presented an updated water and sewer capacity report at a joint Queenstown Commissioners and Planning Commission work session. The updated water model supports using a 100,000-gallon above-ground storage tank adjacent to the Outlets tower and a new well and features on town land recently purchased from the Dudley family on Del Rhodes Ave; the town must request an increase in Mattawan aquifer groundwater appropriation permits (current availability reported as up to 40,000 gallons/160 EDUs, with potential to reach 200,000 gallons after permit increase). For sewer, Rauch reported the plant has 40,000 gpd available (up to 80,000 gpd under a 10% scenario that would require MDE involvement), that 20% of plant capacity should be reserved, and that the existing plant was designed for 200,000 gpd with a possible upgrade to 400,000 gpd requiring tank and membrane replacement (any expansion costs would fall to developers). He also noted collection system constraints at Skipjack Cove Lane, the Outlets pump station is limited by pump size, the town is addressing inflow and infiltration (I&I) issues including work planned on Old Wharf Lane and will apply to MDE for funding, and that a developer could alternatively build its own wastewater plant with discharge.
