The August 9, 2022 Queenstown Commissioners meeting covered wastewater plant needs, public works repairs, planning items, committee updates, town finances, and manager updates. Engineer George Frigon reviewed membrane-cleaning issues and gave cost estimates: $6,454 to address tasks Microdyne requested and about $24,000 to automate processes; commissioners asked Ms. Ryan to get written confirmation from Microdyne. The commissioners approved a Havtech HVAC upgrade at a net cost of $5,816 (3-0) and authorized ordering Parkson parts/labor to repair the compactor (3-0) while staff seeks lower labor costs; R&D Electric will supply a power cord for the park concert trailer. Planning Commission proposed a Home Occupation amendment to allow a barbershop by special exception, will draft Critical Area ordinance updates required by COMAR (including water-dependent facilities and aquaculture), and approved a reduced 9-space pull-in parking lot for Lacrosse with a required rear fence and a no-parking designation on the right side of Thompson Ave. Finance will start quarterly updates; balances reported were General $225,308.90, Water/Sewer $81,627.16, ARPA $315,180.52, and after a second ARPA payment the ARPA total is $657,814.44. Manager notes: a covert speed survey on Dudley Ave. showed 59 vehicles/day with three over 25 mph and signage will be ordered; the town referred skunk complaints to a wildlife hotline; and a Concert in the Park is scheduled for August 13 with church refreshments.
