Town Commissioners — 2022-05-10

The Queenstown Commissioners met May 10, 2022. They began with a closed session to discuss personnel, then in open session agreed to remove a misplaced “Civil War Trail” sign from courthouse property and relocate it. Suez was unable to complete a full water tower wash-out inspection because cell equipment blocked the top hatch; staff will contact T‑Mobile and approved raising buried tower valves (cost 8283.72) so future access is easier. Planning items included a Golf Course LDA boundary revision (to be reviewed with the Critical Area Commission), review of town road standards using Denton’s standards as guidance, DMS submitting preliminary Wheatland subdivision plans by mid‑May for June review, and Planning’s requested input on the DRRA process; the town will leave room for future branding on the Wall St. tower but not apply branding now. Manager and clerk updates noted work on the proposed FY2023 budget, reported fund balances (General Fund 177,511.73 / Water‑Sewer 175,033.80 / ARPA 5315,041.38), scheduled a Skipjack Cove boat ramp ribbon cutting for May 20 at 6:30 pm, and introduced Ordinances 22‑01 through 22‑05 (building code updates and boat storage rules) with public hearings to be scheduled in June; the board approved introducing those ordinances. Other items: a meeting with lacrosse organizers about parking on Thompson Ave and plans to remove trees in the “Tot Lot” to explore overflow parking, and town review of a retiree supplemental insurance program pending attorney review.
