Town Commissioners — 2021-10-12

The Queenstown Commissioners met Oct. 12, 2021, called to order at 4:02 PM with President Tom Willis Jr., Commissioners Al Hardee and Bryon Callahan, Town Manager Amy Moore, and Town Attorney Lyndsey Ryan present. Visitors Chelsea and Nick Crossen proposed a Christmas house-lighting contest ($5 entry, maps for walking tours, Facebook voting, hot cocoa sales); Commissioners approved town gift-certificate prizes and set the first viewing for the Tree Lighting on Dec. 10 from 6–9 p.m. Public Works reported recurring electrical damage at the wastewater plant from storms; staff authorized obtaining cost estimates for lightning and surge protection, cleaning/inspection of motor control centers, and will forward a memo to the attorney and arrange a follow-up meeting with the plant engineer. Several local drainage and paving issues were discussed: Charity Lane outfall pipe sizing and ditch clearing, a homeowner drainage/sidewalk grade concern on Maryland Ave. with prices sought for sidewalk work and a foam-raising option to be investigated, Thompson Ave. Extended needing shoulder/parking work before Town acceptance, and a Harbor Lane paving complaint to be further inspected. Other items: Steamboat Village sidewalk letter of credit will be held pending a final inspection report, the Gravely mower is broken and a replacement will be considered, and the Planning Commission reviewed a Lacross Homes concept plan for an office/garage project on the Kevin Dey property fronting Rt. 301 and requested revisions.
