Town Commissioners — 2021-08-25

The Queenstown Commissioners met August 25, 2021 (President Tom Willis and Commissioner Bryon Callahan present; Commissioner Hardee absent) and heard Town Engineer Robert Rauch and department reports. Rauch identified I&I spot repairs totaling $199,333.84 and recommended scoping and soliciting bids (ARA funds may be used with procurement rules); a test well for the new water tower is scheduled for the first week of September and the tower design is nearly complete. Old Wharf Lane stormwater design/engineering was estimated at $10,000 (ARA funds possible), proposed Water and Sewer Standards were submitted emphasizing Town‑provided meters with customer payment and possible backflow requirements, and marine/dock stabilization options were discussed with Rauch favoring the original injection method and phragmite spraying planned for ramp work. A resident request for a speed bump on Charity Lane will be researched for prefab options; Public Works reported grease entering the system (a skimmer ordered) and other maintenance items (HVAC coil fabrication, tree inspection, handling a request to lower Thompson Ave speed to 15 mph but enforcement limited by state law). The Planning Commission reappointed Matt Reno (2–0 vote); the Finance Committee recommended accepting Queenstown Bank interim financing and will draft an ordinance, and Treasurer balances were reported (General Fund $119,104.85; Water‑Sewer Fund $138,590.52) with an ARA account to be established. A T‑Mobile lease proposal (rent change from $3,276 to $2,800/month, new escalation terms, extension to 2051) was forwarded to the Town’s negotiator Hugh Odom, with a recommendation not to seek new tower tenants until the tower is completed.
