Town Commissioners — 2021-06-08

The Queenstown Commissioners met June 8, 2021 (called to order at 3:33 PM) with President Tom Willis, Commissioners Al Hardee and Bryon Callahan, Town Manager Amy Moore, Town Clerk Aaron Horney, and Town Attorney Lyndsey Ryan present. Two contractors—Robert Mourlas of Suez and Ryan Lucy of Southern Corrosion—presented competing proposals for rehabilitation and ongoing maintenance of the Wall Street water tower. Planning staff reported the Planning Commission approved housekeeping amendments to the Zoning Ordinance (QRD development standards and CS non-residential use standards) and the six-year Critical Area Program review; Commissioners will introduce ordinances and schedule public hearings. Town staff updated on water/wastewater operations (consumer confidence report mailed, membranes cleaned, a $30,000 MDE grant applied for), dredge/boat ramp bid package nearing release to bid, and ARPA (Coronavirus Local Fiscal Recovery) funds the Town must accept or deny by June 30 (eligible for new tower, tower rehab, or I&I work). The Commissioners voted 3–0 to proceed with construction of a new water tower; finance staff are finalizing the FY22 budget with a special meeting to introduce the budget ordinance and a public hearing set for June 30.
