Town Commissioners — 2021-01-27

The January 27, 2021 Queenstown Commissioners meeting was held remotely. Residents raised boat slip concerns—commissioners agreed to review slip contracts and fees at a future worksession and the town attorney will provide other towns’ slip agreements for comparison. Town engineer Bob Rauch reported plans to apply for an MDE grant to replace the sewer system (motion approved 3-0), presented bid documents for dock improvements (grant-funded) and ramp improvements (town-funded), and the commissioners voted to apply for wetlands permits for both projects (3-0). Updates were given on the water tower/infrastructure project (budgeted at $3.3M with $1.8M loan; current rate noted as $8.34 per EDU; further developer-agreement scenarios to be prepared) and a land survey of Queenstown Village open space that found flooding appears to come from street runoff rather than the town berm; staff are testing curb/ditch changes and will investigate a possible buried drain with digging and camera work. Public Works items: deferred purchase of a new mower pending repair cost review, fence repairs at the Outlets water tower, town agreement to cover a contractor’s cost (Carl Bathon) for work that found no lateral on private property, and continued investigation of a water leak on Main Street; discussion of a leak detector was declined.
