Town Commissioners — 2020-12-16

The Queenstown Commissioners met remotely on December 16, 2020. Public hearings were held for Ordinance 20-06 (making property owners responsible for water meter cost at installation) and Ordinance 20-07 (adding a permit section for use of the Queenstown boat ramp); no public comments were received and the hearing was adjourned 3-0. Town engineer Robert (Bob) Rauch reported on boat ramp and town dock improvement plans (a grant up to $250,000 is available for dock work, scope includes repairs, new decking, electrical upgrades, possible two new finger piers adding four slips, and bid documents expected about a week out; ramp work is not in the grant and still being scoped), on the water tower/infrastructure project (site for tower and well secured, test well work is pending town direction, an in-ground tank under a park is offered as a lower-cost alternative, USDA funds remain available with a five-year use window and an estimated 18 months to complete design/permits/construction), and on a land survey at Queenstown Village to address drainage between houses and Royal Farms (recommendation to consider a landscape drainage system with inlets, piping and minor grading, need for an outfall, one fence encroachment noted, and further investigation of existing drains/easements planned). Commissioners will discuss next steps (including whether to proceed with the test well) at a future work session.
