The Queenstown Commissioners met remotely on July 22, 2020. At a 6:45 p.m. public hearing they received no comments and later adopted Ordinance 20-02 to establish a town property tax credit for certain volunteer fire department members (vote 3-0). Town Engineer Robert Rauch reported results of June 15 smoke testing: widespread broken sewer cleanout caps, some broken laterals, and a few manhole issues, and recommended a systematic program to repair defects and determine owner vs. town responsibility; he also said a wastewater capacity management plan is prepared but will be updated with recent data before submitting to MDE. The meeting introduced Ordinance 20-03 to amend water and sewer capital allocation fees (public hearing set for Aug 26, 2020), noted the wastewater plant is running well, reported General Fund $82,998.48 and Water/Sewer Fund $17,103.98, and covered ongoing items including water tower interim financing, Dudley property terms pending, Wheatland’s planned development review, boat ramp improvement inquiries and a DNR denial of dredging, and continuing speeding and trailer parking concerns on Main Street.
