The Queenstown Commissioners met August 22, 2018. They held a closed session at 6:18 p.m. to obtain legal advice on contract matters (entered and adjourned by unanimous 3-0 vote). At public hearings beginning at 7:08 p.m. Town Attorney Brynja Booth said the town’s election provisions needed updating, and the Commission opened and closed hearings (no public comment) on Charter amendment resolutions 18-103 through 18-106, each closed by unanimous 3-0 vote; the resolutions would add rules for run-off elections after a tie, clarify absentee voting (including electronic requests and returns), address write-in candidates, and allow cancellation of uncontested elections (authorization to the Clerk-Treasurer). Present were President Thomas B. Willis, Jr., Commissioners Holger Schuster and Alton Hardee, Jr., Town Attorney Brynja Booth, and Town Manager/Clerk Amy Moore.
