The Town Commissioners held a work session and public hearing on June 14, 2017. A public hearing was held at 4:00 p.m. on proposed Ordinance 17-04 to adopt supplemental findings related to applying the Growth Allocation Floating Zone to the Waterman property and to reflect the property's reclassified acreage as 59.402 acres (the hearing was closed at 4:07 p.m.). In a closed-session update, the Town Attorney said the Bowlingly property is eligible for a Special Exception for events but the owners held a large event without prior approval; the Town will contact the owners. Multiple residents spoke during open discussion opposing use of Bowlingly for public events and raised traffic, parking, shoreline clearing, and safety concerns (including requests about Dudley Avenue truck traffic, Old Wharf parking/signage, and park parking lot work). Other reports: Public Works is getting paving prices and proposes reallocating funds to Steamboat Avenue; the Planning Commission signed off on a draft Comprehensive Plan to be introduced to the Commissioners; the Finance Committee is beginning talks with Shore Christian Fellowship about the park and has a first draft personnel handbook; Treasurer reported balances (General $125,538.20; Water/Sewer $157,782.99; WWTP Project $4,907.12).
