The April 1, 2026 Queenstown Planning Commission meeting reviewed a site plan for a proposed new firehouse presented by Brandon Davis and Wayne Gardner. The Commission voted to recommend reclassifying the property from County SR (Suburban Residential) to the town R‑1 residential zoning and to add Volunteer Fire Department as an allowed safety service use, and they conditionally approved the site plan subject to revised landscaping/screening (including residential side buffers with plantings and a 6‑foot privacy fence), better screening and relocation of dumpsters and storage buildings away from neighboring residences, and full compliance with §102 interior parking lot landscaping requirements or justification for any modifications. The duplex site plan for 6915 Main St. was noted as to be rescheduled; there was no public comment and the February 4 minutes were approved. Town Manager updates covered draft zoning ordinance revisions (accessory dwelling units and §95 height/area/bulk), draft legislation on long‑term rentals, a water/sewer rate study aimed at more favorable options for low water users (320 of 349 users use <7,000 gallons and account for less than half of consumption), and planned events for America’s 250th celebration (including a Bowlingly garden party, a July 8 Declaration reading at the colonial courthouse, and a tentative American Discovery Trail relay through Queenstown on November 23).
