Planning Commission — 2025-08-06

The Queenstown Planning Commission met August 6, 2025 (in person, 6:01 p.m.; no guests or public comment). Town Manager Amy Moore reported an $8.2 million low bid for a water storage and infrastructure project and said commissioners prefer Wheatlands developers cover about $4 million of that cost (a proposal was sent to USDA); she also reported Main Street purchase feasibility concerns due to easement issues, approval of creek dredging ($1.5 million) by the Maryland General Assembly, failing plant membranes with permeability down to 4 and no warranty, and adoption of the QAC multi-jurisdictional hazard plan making the town FEMA-eligible. Old business included contacting SHA about right-of-ways and ditch-line easements and the need to consult specific maps. New business covered Maryland SB 891 (limits on special review and direction for members to research ADU styles) and the Maryland Brighter Tomorrow Act (administrative review changes affecting solar siting); the Commission voted to recommend zoning text revisions to comply.
