Planning Commission — 2022-03-02

The Queenstown Planning Commission met March 2, 2022 at 7:00 p.m.; attendees included Chairman Phil Snyder, Vice‑Chair Matt Reno, Commissioners Paul Cain and Mike Bowell, Planner Peter Johnston, Secretary Geneva Rieu, and Town Manager Amy Moore. There was no public comment; Town Manager updates covered a pending LDA boundary amendment request from Lex Birney at the golf course (to be presented in March and reviewed with the Critical Area Commission in April with a golf course representative requested), a regional trails workshop April 23 at Chesapeake College, discussions with Talkie Communications about broadband ahead of Breezeline’s 2023 contract renewal, approval to repair playground surfacing, and dredging and dock work status (dredging complete, waiting on wetlands permit and Board of Public Works hearing; a single dock repair bid of $240,000 was rejected as over budget). Old business included review of a revised Wheatland’s impact study by the Greenlee group, continued discussion of water tower branding, and a request to review commercial and oversized vehicle parking ordinances. New business noted required updates to town regulations from the Critical Area Commission’s water‑dependent chapter within six months, pending statutory changes to the Forest Conservation Act, proposed marijuana legalization legislation and the suggestion to review local ordinances, plus local concerns about a street light out at 235 Melvin and vehicle/trailer parking at the end of Comegys. The January 5, 2022 minutes were approved, and the meeting adjourned at 8:20 p.m. following a motion by Matt Reno.
