Planning Commission — 2021-08-04

The Queenstown Planning Commission met on August 4, 2021 and reviewed updates, old business, and new business. Commissioners adopted Zoning Ordinance and Critical Area amendments at their July 28 hearing, recommended adoption of fence material standards to the Town Commissioners, and approved purchase of concrete pods for boat landing/parking improvements while dredging and DNR review of the single dock bid proceed (dredging will occur before dock work and boats/vehicles must be moved). Town staff reported a sewer capacity analysis for the Wheatlands (Waterman Family LLP) development showing no immediate upgrades needed but planning should begin when capacity reaches 85% and the golf course will need additional EDUs; Greenlee Group is contracted and the golf course stormwater plan meets standards. The Commission discussed the Trails Master Plan (concerns about town maintenance and liability; Commissioners want town involvement in planning and a potential work group), approved a three-phase Community Parks & Playground grant plan for FY2023 (boardwalk with bump-out/educational elements, second boardwalk on 2nd Ave, and a handicap kayak launch), and directed Peter Johnston to revise proposed boat and trailer parking standard amendments (double-trailer allowance for personal watercraft, vehicle registration requirement, and setbacks) for the September meeting. The Commission will provide comments to Queen Anne’s County on the 2021 Comprehensive Plan after the Trails Plan is adopted; July 7 minutes were approved and the meeting adjourned at 8:15 PM.
