Planning Commission — 2019-04-03

The Queenstown Planning Commission met April 3, 2019; present were Phil Snyder (Chair), Matt Reno (Vice Chair), Loretta Hohmann (Secretary), Perry Stutman, Town Planner Peter Johnston, and Town Manager Amy Moore (Paul Cain absent); no guests attended. Town updates: the town received a $50,000 grant for dredging boat slips (scheduled for fall) and will investigate adding the ramp area; the I&I project received no bids and commissioners are seeking funding and planning a public meeting with landowners (Bemies, Dudley, Watermans) to discuss water needs and a new water tower. Old business: the Planning Commission had no comment on QA County’s major site plan submittal for Queenstown Assisted Living at Nesbitt Road and noted there is no opportunity for a trail access off that property. Discussion of a Wheatland zoning text amendment reported that Town Planner Peter Johnston met with Barry Waterman; Waterman’s build-out decisions depend on the water tower and I&I work, and he appears to be moving away from a townhouse concept toward a mixed, relatively affordable housing pattern; the commission recommended Waterman approach with a float zone and identify broad home patterns and an order of build. Trails Master Plan discussion focused on whether future trail alignment will be north or south of Route 50, creation of a town committee (with one Planning Commission member), drafting goals and an inventory, tourism and funding considerations, web presence, maintenance responsibilities, and presenting the plan to the county; Matt Reno will provide an electronic version of the Bowie trails plan and was recommended by Perry Stutman to lead the effort. New business: the March 6, 2019 minutes were approved unanimously; Perry Stutman submitted his resignation; the meeting adjourned at 7:53 p.m.
