At the January 2, 2019 Queenstown Planning Commission meeting, developer Barry Waterman presented development concepts for the Wheatland annexed property, describing plans for about 180 townhouses (to be part of an HOA) and roughly half the site reserved for commercial pads for convenience stores, restaurants, and small food outlets. He estimated tax revenues of about $15,000–$16,000 per year from the townhomes and up to $90,000 per year from commercial uses, said he is waiting on a land permit to gain access from Route 18, and raised issues including increased traffic on US 301, recreational amenities (park, walking areas, dog park), and the challenge of integrating new and existing residents. The commission approved the December 5, 2018 minutes (4-0), voted to defer election of officers until the board is fully staffed (4-0), noted there were no letters of interest for an open Planning Board seat, and were asked to have some members attend a February 20 town hall meeting.
