Planning Commission — 2018-06-06

These are the minutes of the Queenstown Planning Commission meeting on June 6, 2018, called to order at 7:00 p.m. Present were Chair Philip Snyder, Town Planner Peter Johnston, Vice Chair Matt Reno, Commissioners Betty White and Loretta Hohmann, and Town Commissioner/President Tom Willis; one public attendee (John Fitzgerald). Town Commissioner Tom Willis reported town updates: sidewalks are being fixed; all sewage lines will be video-inspected and then grouted where leaks are found; a meeting with MDE is scheduled for June 14; the sewage treatment plant is running well and membranes under warranty will be replaced to increase capacity, with related work to add water lines and a splash barrier; storage tanks are to be removed (delivery/haul cost $1,600, rental fee previously $35/day). Willis introduced a budget ordinance for a town-commissioner hearing and reviewed an ordinance to finalize purchase of church property used for part of the town park. Other updates: Royal Farms tractor-trailer idling has improved under the ordinance; there is no current annexation activity allowing building and no town taxes will be charged to annexed Dudley properties until services are provided; the Dudley farmhouse on Route 18 will be demolished; Steamboat Village expects to build two more homes. For old business, Peter Johnston will modify the sign ordinance per the commission’s comments and will provide a summary of signage rules for residents, town center, and highway commercial; comprehensive rezoning discussions continue and the Salt House LLC annexation petition had been discussed in May. May 2 minutes were approved as corrected, there was no public comment, and the meeting adjourned at 7:55 p.m.
