The Queenstown Planning Commission met July 5, 2017. Commissioners unanimously approved a motion to forward the Recommended Amendments to Queenstown zoning code — Medical Cannabis (dated July 5, 2017) to the Town Commissioners for final approval; the Planning Commission had discussed the matter at a June 20 workshop and Town Planner Peter Johnston presented the recommendations. Chairman Al Hardee distributed the Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission dispensary license application materials for commissioners to review. Town Commissioner Hogie Schuster reported the town budget was passed. The 2016 annual report was prepared and signed by the chairman, the June meeting minutes were reviewed and approved, and there were no updates on pending requests and permits. Hardee and Commissioner Betty White reported on a meeting with Lex Birney and John Andres about possible town and owner-led enhancements (Birney said construction of the first phase of rental cottages has begun, the proposed events center is tabled, and he mentioned no interest in a full restaurant apart from possibly a tiki-style bar near the boathouse); no formal actions resulted. The meeting adjourned at 7:30 p.m.
