Planning Commission — 2017-05-03

The Planning Commission met May 3, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. (Town Office) with members Willie Comegys, Al Hardee, Phil Snyder, and Betty White; Town Planner Peter Johnston and guests including Kevin Dey and Town Commissioner George Plumbo attended. Kevin Dey requested rezoning his Melvin Avenue property (currently R-2, fronts Rt. 301) to Highway Commercial; the Commission unanimously directed the Town Planner to amend the Draft Community Plan to include a land use policy change for Melvin Avenue Parcel 141, Map 51. The Commission received written comments on the Community Plan from Peter Robertson and John (Ned) Foster, decided Foster’s suggested future annexation of the Bennett Point Road area was not appropriate to include now, and unanimously directed the Town Planner to incorporate Robertson’s comments and present a final draft at the next meeting. Town Commissioners are working on the town budget and revisions to rental policies related to collection of overdue water bills from tenants. The Commission was given a County planning action item (County Ordinance 17-06) on medical cannabis and asked to review it for discussion at the next meeting; the March 1, 2017 minutes were approved and the meeting adjourned at 7:55 p.m.
