This record is the Planning Commission special meeting and public hearing of May 23, 2016. The Commission held two public hearings: Resolution PC 16-001 to amend the 2010 Queenstown Community Plan to reflect the annexation, rezoning, and future development of the Wheatland Farm, and an administrative variance request from Brent and Bruce Cohee for a side-yard setback at 102 Charity Lane (formerly 7001 Main Street). Written comments were entered into the record (including letters from the Maryland Department of Planning, Queen Anne’s County Department of Planning & Zoning, Larry and Sheila Tolliver, and Ed Modell). Public testimony included opposition from Ed Modell (who referenced a pending lawsuit and alleged procedural problems) and support from Barry Waterman and Joe Stevens (who said the Town has legal authority to make the changes); after public comment the Commission voted to defer action on Resolution PC 16-001 to its June meeting (3-0). The Commission then considered the Cohee variance (an additional 12 inches for a step into an already-approved setback), received no public opposition, and granted the requested relief under the Community Redevelopment Overlay District (3-0), then adjourned.
