SPECIAL MEETING CALLED TO ORDER AT 4:OO PM
The purpose of the meeting was to interview the following candidates for the Town Commissioner tacancy.
Each candidate was interviewed separately in the following schedule:

4:00 p.m. - George Buckler

4:30 p.m. -Jim Watzin

5:00 p.m. - Tom Peregoy
o
5:30 p.m. - Ned Foster
o
6:00 p.m. - George Plumbo
Each candidate was asked the following 7 questions- the responses from each candidate are listed under
each question.
1. llhy do you want to be u commissioner?
George Buckler- Want to keep the town the way it is regarding growth/safety. Want to take care of
residents of the town.
Jim Watzin- Grew up in small town with good memories. Retired now with free time. Invested in
Queenstown. Want it to be successful and bring a fresh view to things.
Tom Peregoy- Have the time to help. Enjoyed helping as a commissioner in the past.
Ned Foster- Grew up in Queenstown. Dad was commissioner. Attended meetings since childhood.
Duty to serve and contribute to town. Want to see town grow and do well.
George Plumbo- Knew Commissioner Willis'vision. Want to be a good neighbor and give back to
town. Went well last time was commissioner. Would be happy to do it again.
2. ll/hat are the 2 or 3 most important issues Queenstownfaces right now?
George Buckler- I is water tower project, 2 is solar issues in the State.
Jim Watzin- I is maintenance of water/sewer systems with plant and towers being a challenge, 2 is
housing on horizon and how will new housing interface with 'current'town.
Tom Peregoy- 1 is expansion of the town, 2 is water/sewer issues.
Ned Foster- I is water/sewer as county allocation is low and will put focus on town for growth in
overall area,2 is vacant homes in town and should have incentives for owners to improve/fill vacant
homes.
George Plumbo- Infrastructure and tax. Improve property values/maintain costs to keep town family-
oriented. Look at tax base and develop plan for keeping things affordable for residents.
3. Elaborate on your involvement in town activities, participation on town boards/committees, or
attendance of any town meetings rf any.
George Buckler- Been to town events such as holiday tree lighting, etc. Have not served on any boards
in the past.
Jim Watzin- Attended several town events and town meetings over last l4 months here.
Tom Peregoy- Was a commissioner in past. Haven't attended many events/meetings recently.
Ned Foster- Put name in for Planning Commission in past but haven't served on any boards.
George Plumbo- Served as commissioner in past. No town events but active in community with
church events, etc.
4. Whot skills do you have that would make you a good commissioner?
George Buckler- Was a supervisor for 30+ years. Dealt with people in different situations for a long
time.

Jim Wafzin- Managed large organizations/ran teams in career. Managed budgets,etc. Worked for
NASA and Dept. of Defense.
Tom Peregoy- Can talk with people and get to the point of issues.
Ned Foster- Can see problems from both perspectives to find solutions that work for towns best
interest.
Geroge Plumbo- Has thick skin and even temper to get through the good and bad times. Has
background in compliance. Worked in lT/highly regulated industries.
5' lYhat are your thoughts on growth within Queenstown?
George Buckler- Keep it slow and easy to keep taxes down. Town currently going along at a good
pace. Understands growth is needed but keep it controlled and thoughtful.
Jim Watzin- Growth is more of a risk than a benefit to character of the town. Growth is hard on
infrastructure, would require huge investments. Would be challenge connecting new areas of town
with current areas.
Tom Peregoy- Keep growth slow. Is nice to see subtle growth in the town over the years.
Ned Foster- Growth is coming hard with county and after Grasonville area, Queenstown is next. Avoid
issues happening in other municipalities and have smart growth strategies. Some growth is needed but
not overgrowth.
George Plumbo- Need smart growth to support what the town needs. Town always has needs and
growth is needed to finance and support the needs of the town.
6. ll/hat is your availability for Commissioner meetings, and do you have the availability to work on
Queenstown business during the day if needed?
George Buckler- Available for any meetings and available to work on town business during the day.
Jim Watzin- Has some ability to be available for meetings/business. Able to make it work.
Tom Peregoy- Available any time.
Ned Foster- Has flexible schedule, can make it work and be available.
George Plumbo- Has an open schedule and availability for meetings/business.

Why did you move to Queenstown?
George Buckler- Originally from southern Maryland. Loved small town feeling of that area and
Queenstown has same feeling. Wants to retain that feeling.
Jim Watzin- Lived in Edgewater but retired to South Carolina as was tired of traffic, cost of living,
etc. Has family who live on the eastern shore and in Edgewater still. Moved to Queenstown because
was similar to area lived in South Carolina, quiet, but close enough to family in Edgewater as well.
Love the property they currently have in town.
Tom Peregoy- Wife wanted to move here. Had visited town before moving here. Loves the town and
overall area.
Ned Foster- Grew up here. Is home and wants family to have same upbringing as he had. Enjoys the
water and area overall.
George Plumbo- Lived on Kent Island and traveled daily to Wilmington for work. Decided to look at
town one day on the way, saw a house for sale and loved the town so much that he put an offer in the
next day and bought the house.
Following the conclusion of all interviews, Commissioners stated a decision will be made at a following
