SPECIAL MEETING
September 16,2020
Commissioners Thomas B. Willis, Jr. and Alton Hardee, Jr. held a special meeting for the
pu{pose of interviewing candidates for the Commissioner vacancy left by the resignation of
Commissioner Hogie Schuster.
Meeting called to order at 3:30 p.m.
Commissioner's agreed on a list of six questions to ask all candidates. l) What inspired you to
want to be a Commissioners? 2) What issues concern you in Queenstown? 3) What do you think
the job entails? 4) What is your vision for Queenstown 5-10 years from now? 5) Are you aware
of legal constraints we are under by State and Local laws and charter? 6) What is your
availability.
3:30 p.m. - First candidate, Mr. Frank Philip, provided a resume of his work and education
history, along with interests. Mr. Philip didn't see any big issues currently facing the town, just a
few little ones. Would like to see much more done with the colonial courthouse. Would like to
see the whole historic aspect of Queenstown enhanced. Retired and available most any time.
4:00 p.m. - Mike Bowell, started the Finance Committee. Served on the community goup
investigating water and sewer improvonents. Served as past Town Commissioner and served on
boards with the Eastern Shore Association of Municipalities and the Maryland Municipal
League. Feels communication and transparency are key. Has experience with Queenstown
govemment. Retired and available any time.
4:30 p.m. - Lonnie Anthony - lifelong resident of Town. Always wanted to be involved, but due
to work with Delmarva Power, as well as other obligations didn't have the time. Now retired
and would like to be involved. Also serves in the fire department and the Red Knights. Biggest
concern at the moment is the Outlets. When closed due to COVID, not much as been done there.
Doesn't reflect character of the town. Weeds and dirty looking. Several closed stores. In favor
of controlled growth for the town. As is now retired, available most any time.
5:00 p.m. - Joe Cvach - lived in town few years now with wife and children. Looks to raise his
family here. Has concerns with transient renters, and the condition of the properties they rent.
Also concemed with the speeding. Works full time with Anne Arundel Fire Dept., and
volunteers with Queenstown. Wants to make sure the town looks to the future, while keeping
our charm. Can be available with notice.
5:30 p.m. - Paul Cain - lived in town few years with wife Shawn. Has previous HOA
experience, as was president for many years in the development they lived in before moving to
Queenstown. His concerns at the moment are property maintenance, boat slips and the boat
ramp. Works for himself so can be available.

6:00 p.m. - Bryon Callahan - lifelong resident of Town. Serves on several boards with the
Queenstown Fire Dept. Doesn't see any major issues immediately facing Queenstown, but
would like to see growth controlled to keep Queenstown similar to what she is now, but to also
grow more opportunities. Would want to take things slow and not rush into any big decisions.
Works for himself so can be available when needed.
6;30 p.m. - Chris Drummond - been in QA County a long time, in town a little over a year. As
an attorney, he has been around town business, as he represents several, but would like to be
involved in local govemment. Familiar with grants, as assisted the towns he represents. Would
also like to see improvements to the waterfront park and the boat landing. Available most of the
time if given notice.
Commissioners will meet on Septe,nrber 18,2020 at l:00 p.m. to discuss the candidates and make
a decision on a replacement for Mr. Schuster.
