QUEENSTOWN COMMISSIONERS
WORK SESSION
May 18, 2018 PRESENT: President Tom Willis, Commissioner Al Hardee, Patricia Bowell, Finance Chair, and Amy Moore.
WORK SESSION CALLED TO ORDER AT 2:00 P.M.
President Willis called the work session to order.
Town Engineer, Robert Rauch, provided the Clerk with a memo to the Commissioners with his recommendation to initiate repairs to a section ofthe collection system. The Town has been experiencing high flows. The Town has completed a limited amount ofvideo inspection based on the experience oftown staffresponsible for the maintenance ofthe collection system.
Instincts were proven to be reliable based on the observation ofa consistent high base flow in a section ofthe system that provides service to a limited number ofhomes on Del Rhodes Ave.
This infiltration source is significant enough to warrant immediate repair. This source is not the complete problem but significant enough to be addressed. This section ofthe collection system drains to the Del Rhodes Avenue pumping station, which is also a suspected source ofinflow.
President Willis motioned to grout the sewer lines as recommended by Bob Rauch, as well as continue to investigate the source ofthe inflow. Motion seconded by Commissioner Hardee.
Vote: 2-aye, 0-nay Commissioners were in agreement that the entire town should be inspected ifneed be to determine the problems.
Amy Moore, Clerk/Treasurer and Patricia Bowell, Finance Chair, presented a first draft ofthe general fund budget. Several issues were reviewed and discussed. There are no increases in tax rates proposed.
Prices received from David Sears for labor to remove and install new sidewalks on Maryland Avenue and Steamboat Avenue in the amount of$8,211 ifit can be done now. Concrete quoted at 18 yds at $150 yd. for all three sections.
President Willis motioned to accept Mr. Sears’s proposal and have the work done now. Motion seconded by CommissionerHardee. Vote: 2-aye, 0-nay There being no further business at this time, President Willis motioned to adjourn the meeting at 4:13 p.m. Motion seconded by CommissionerHardee.
