Queenstown Planning Commission Minutes August 3rd,2016 Chairman Schuster opened the meeting at 7:02 Pm. In attendance where:
Commission Members – Al Hardee ,Hogie Schuster , Phil Synder Guest- John and Jennie Fitzgerald , Town Commissioner George Plumbo The first item was the Bowlingly request. Hogie Shuster stated that they had contacted him earlier in the day and stated the could not make the meeting.
The next item was a note from the office about Tent sales at the Outlets. It was stated that an outside vendor had set up a tent and was having a furniture sale. The vendor had left and the office discovered that a permit had not been requested. The office was asking the Planning Commission about the Towns ordinances on this. Mr. Hardee ask Commissioner Plumbo about, who is supposed to be collecting the
fees on this, the town or the outlets. Commissioner Plumbo said he was unsure and would have to research it. Mr. Hardee suggested billing the outlets as they own the property and have them collect the fees and pay the town. Peter spoke up and said that if it was an existing store having a sale, that a permit should not be needed. However, in this case it was an outside vendor who setup temporarly and
should have gotten a permit.
Commissioners Update Commissioner Plumbo stated that he did not have a lot tonight. He said that at their next meeting they would be discussing a new Rental ordinance. He also told us about a plan to have a town garden setup where residents could rent a plot and have a garden. At this time, they are working on where to put this in town.
Mr. Hardee ask him if there had been any consideration about hiring a new code enforcement officer.
Mr. Plumbo stated that they have hired someone and that person’s name is Bill…… unknown on last name.
Community Plan Peter reviewed the community plan update. He passed out the next segment that needed to be review by the commission. A workshop will be setup in August to review this segment and will be held on August 18th at 4 pm.
Peter also spoke about the next component, and that is how we can get the publics input to the plan.
Commissioner Plumbo suggested that we hold a public workshop sometime in October in conjunction with the open house at the new wastewater treatment plant. Everyone thought that would be a great idea and the details will be coming in the next few months.
A discussion was started by Chairman Schuster about the Dudley property. He referred to a previous conversation with Mr. Hardee about developing a waterfront area on salthouse cove. Mr. Shuster suggested adding that to our community plan, and Peter suggested we talk about it at the August workshop. Peter told the commission that he had received a revised plan for the Weese property on Old Wharf Lane. Under the new plan there is no variance needed. Mr. Schuster ask the question being as the
property was in the critical area, did the Critical area commission need to sign off on it? Peter explained that detached single family homes did not need to be approved as provided under the critical area guidelines.
Chairman Schuster gave an update on the town park, he said the park had been approved but was waiting on funding.
Commissioner Plumbo suggested that the Planning Commission take a look at adding a waterfront town park to the Wheatlands project. Phil Snyder explained that we had talked about it, however we decided not to go forward do to crime and other factors. His question was who would be responsible for policing the area.
The minutes from the previous meeting where review and passed with a motion from Phil Snyder and seconded by Chairman Schuster.
